World Animal Day Celebration!

Illustrator Emma Jayne/Source: www.worldanimalday.org.uk

The first World Animal Day was organised by the animal protection activist Heinrich Zimmermann in Berlin in 1925. This initiative for animal rights and welfare gained growing support from animal protection organisations in the following years.

Zimmermann's proposal to celebrate World Animal Day on 4th October, the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, was accepted at the International Congress of Animal Protection Organisations in 1931.

Let’s symbolically support today in The Dog House this global movement against animal cruelty, neglect and unfair treatment by sharing stories, videos, pictures, and music in honour of the animals.

Please, let's keep it light, bright and fun for all our visitors and friends from around the world!!

All our threads now stay open for as long as they are being used and enjoyed; you are welcome to stop by at any time🌻
