🌰🥮Welcome to National Hazelnut Cake Day🌰🥮
I would imgine we all like cake, but must admit there is something delicious sounding about Hazelnut Cake, so a day worth celebrating.
Hazelnuts have a long history. Recent evidence found in Scotland dates their use back to approximately 7000 BC.
They grow on trees in clusters of 3-5 nuts and are harvested in the Autumn.
These nuts are grown all over the world, and the majority of them are used by the Ferrero Company for their products.
A few facts about these tasty nuts;
In 1989, the hazelnut was declared the official nut of the state of Oregon.
Hazelnuts are rich in nutrients such as vitamin E, dietary fibre, and folate.
There are hundreds of varieties of hazelnuts produced worldwide, with 70% originating from Turkey.
Even better with chocolate on !!
To celebrate today, a must is to eat some hazelnut cake, or even try to make one and see how you get on.
Whatever you do, at least eat something with hazelnuts in to celebrate today, and enjoy it.
