🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛Welcome to National Black Cat Appreciation Day🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

All cats make great pets, but there is something really special about a black cat.
Today is National Black Cat Appreciation Day, and it's a day to get to know more about black cats and to give them the appreciation they so well deserve.

In Ancient Egypt, cats were highly revered for their skill in hunting vermin and were treated as royalty, a fact they have never forgotten!!  However, black cats fell from favour because of a stupid superstition that they brought bad luck, and were witches’ cats!!

In Celtic mythology, it was thought that the fairies would take on the form of a cat, and when they entered a village or a home, they brought nothing but good luck.
However, those that came after them were afraid of pagan beliefs, so black cats fell from being fairies’ cats to witches’ cats, and became a symbol of evil and bad luck. Anybody found keeping a black cat was punished, and the poor animal was killed.
To this day, some people will not have a black cat. They are the most difficult to rehome, and there are always loads in shelters because of these ancient beliefs!

Over the years, I have had a lot of cats, all rescues, and have always been lucky enough to have had at least one black one. To me, although I love all cats, they outshine the others for love, character and personality, and can be quite talkative!! I have never thought of an animal as a fashion accessory. I just gave anything a home that needed it, and still do on a smaller scale.

So today, let’s pamper our black cats, and maybe even adopt one, as they are exactly the same as any cat but a different colour!  Please do give them a chance, and I guarantee you won't regret it.

So today, lets talk about black cats, do you or have you had one, would you consider one, and post all things black cat related.
